As a second grade teacher, I am always looking for ways to improve my students’ learning environment. When a generous donor donated a large amount of money to our school, the second grade team made the choice to purchase iPads for each classroom. Security was a concern, which is why we chose to mount them using an iPad wall bracket. This allows the teacher to easily keep inventory of the electronics within the room.
There are a number of apps available on the iPad which can be incorporated into class lessons. Some examples are math, history, and science. I will often supplement a history lesson with a video that the students watch together on their iPad. We then have a question and answer period after the video. I have also found a number of math sites with fun yet competitive games. I break the room into teams and each team will have an iPad to use in the competition. I also have started to incorporate this to practice our spelling words. I have found that many students do better with the instant feedback they receive when using an online application.
The iPad wall bracket comes in handy when the students have free time. This allows the student to use the device while it is still securely attached to the bracket. We chose to attach the bracket to a work desk rather than the wall. This was very easy to do, using a desk stand attachment. I have pre-loaded a number of educational apps on each iPad the students can use at their leisure. This way they have fun during free time yet are still in a learning environment.
If you think this sounds like a good idea for your classroom, visit iPad Wall Bracket. They have a variety of brackets and accessories that will fit any need.
